Bhubaneswar: BJD leader and party’s Bhubaneswar district unit executive president, Babu Singh today resigned from his post and primary membership of the party.

Informing about the development at a presser, Singh said he took the decision to resign from the primary membership of the party and his post as he was intentionally being sidelined by the Bhubaneswar district president of the party.

“Even after serving the party for last 20 years, I have been utterly neglected, which is why I was forced to take the decision to quit,” said Singh.

Singh alleged that the district president was neither inviting him nor his supporters to any party functions or meetings.

“After he was elected MLA, he was assigned the post of a minister and was later made the party observer. But I still don’t understand why he was appointed Bhubaneswar district president,” said Singh.

“As he is calling the shots, other leaders and supporters of the party are feeling worthless,” he added.

Asked about his future, Singh said, “First I will discuss with my supporters and chalk out a plan on how I should contest the elections independently.”

Meanwhile, no comments could be obtained from the BJD.
