Dhenkanal: Unidentified miscreants on Friday afternoon shot at Biju Janata Dal (BJD) youth leader Yashobant Parida, while he was inside his shop in Kamakhyanagar, sources said.

Locals rushed Parida to SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack in critical condition for treatment.

According to reports, the youth leader has received bullet injuries on his thigh and hand. Police have spread a dragnet to nab the assailants involved in the firing.

Tension brewed the area following the gruesome incident which came less than twenty days after the sensational murder of Abhimanyu Sahu, the party’s state youth general secretary in Titilagarh.

Sahu (45), was killed while he was on his morning walk at Bandopala locality in Titlagarh on December 15. He was found in a pool of blood with his throat slit.

Few days back the Crime Branch arrested four persons, including brother of a former NAC chairman of Titlagarh, in connection with the murder case.
