BJD workers stage rail roko

Titlagarh: Protesting against Centre’s negligence to Odisha in Union Railway Budget 2013-14, BJD workers on Wednesday morning staged rail roko in Titlagarh station disrupting train services.

The agitating workers also expressed anger over the delay in completion of Bolangir-Khurda rail track.

The demonstration forced Puri-Surat Express and Titlagarh-Bilaspur trains to stop for hours causing inconvenience to the passengers.

On Tuesday evening more than hundred workers of Sambalpur Nagarika Kalyan Samiti stopped Jagdalpur- Howrah Samaleswari Express at Khetarajpur railway station in Sambalpur district demanding direct train services from Sambalpur to Allahabad.

Similar activities were witnessed by BJD workers at several stations including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jharsuguda and Jeypore.

Notably Union Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal on Tuesday proposed six new trains for Odisha in the Union Railway Budget 2013-14 as against the State’s demand for 31 new trains.
The trains are: Bhubaneswar–Nizamuddin Express via Sambalpur (weekly), Tirupati–Bhubaneswar Express via Visakhapatnam (weekly), Puri–Shirdi Express via Sambalpur, Titilagarh, Raipur, Nagpur, Bhusawal (weekly), Puri–Azmer Express via Abu-Road (weekly), Howarh-Chennai AC Express via Bhadrak (biweekly) and Visakhapatnam-Jodhpur Express via Titilagarh, Raipur (weekly)
