Kendrapara: In another example of gross misuse of power, workers of the ruling-BJD today allegedly resorted to goondaism while opposing the Vijay Sankalp Samabesh of BJP at Kerilo Handibhanga ground in Mahanga area of Kendrapara today.

As per reports, BJP national vice president Baijayant Panda along with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP's Mahanga MLA candidate Sarada Pradhan were to address a meeting at Kerilo today at 3:30 PM.

However, despite having permission from the administration, the BJD workers reportedly opposed the meeting following which the venue had to be changed to Tarat Hatapadia ground, some 500 metres away from the scheduled location.

Later, three platoons of police force were deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.

Secretary of the Odisha unit BJP, Lekhasree Samantsinghar stated that BJD is initiating such violence out of fear of losing elections. "Police and administration had earlier given permission for the meeting at Mahanga. But the local MLA and minister has perpetrated this incident which is why the party wasn't allowed to hold the public meeting. Police and administration are following BJD's agenda," she alleged.

Strongly criticising such activity, Sarada Pradhan said, "This shows the cowardice and pusillanimous attitude of the ruling party. All formalities were done prior to the meeting, and we have acquired legal permission and statutory clearance also. CM Naveen Patnaik had addressed a public meeting here some days ago. On what ground were we opposed? The BJD has stooped so low and people of Mahanga are quite aware of this."

Meanwhile, Jay Panda also came down heavily on the BJD alleging that it is being done by the 'Gundas' of the ruling party. "Venue for Vijay Sankalp Samabesh changed as gundas of BJD opposed the meeting. This is heights of goondaism by the rulling party goons," tweeted Office of Jay Panda.

"Central forces need to be deployed at ALL booths in Kendrapada. Otherwise, Odisha's ruling party will simply not allow free and fair elections!," Jay Panda later expressed in a tweet.

While the local Tehsildar denied to comment anything on the matter, BJD is yet to respond to the allegations of the BJP.
