Bhubaneswar: Rich tributes were paid to the legendary Biju Patnaik on his death anniversary on Sunday.

A memorial meeting was held at the BJD’s state headquarters where party workers paid tributes to the late leader. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and all the legislators and MPs of the party.

Patnaik told the gathering that it is important to inspire people to work towards realizing Biju Babu’s dream and giving it a shape.

Patnaik recounted how Biju Babu dreamt of building a prosperous Orissa — as he emphasized industrialization vis-à-vis the utilization of natural resources in the state.

Patnaik reiterated how Biju Babu always wanted to introduce new drivers of growth in gram panchayats, improving the status of women and emphasized technical education.

Biju Babu emphasized significant growth at the grassroots; BJD also wanted people’s participation in Orissa’s growth story and reserved 50 per cent seats for women in Panchayati Raj, speakers on the occasion said.
