BJD MLA Pravat Tripathy injured in road mishap

Nabarangpur: Ruling BJD MLA Prabhat Tripathy was among four persons who were today injured when their jeep dashed against a tree. Tripathy, legislator from Banki in Cuttack district, was proceeding to Raighar from Umerkote when the vehicle hit a roadside tree while trying to save a cyclist at Beheda, police said.

All the injured were admitted to a hospital at Umerkote where the condition of two persons was stated to be serious, hospital officials said. Tripathy`s condition is stable, Nabarangpur district BJD president Jayadev Parida, who visited the hospital, said. The BJD legislator was on a visit to Nabarangpur district to join the party`s campaign for the November 30 bypoll at Umerkote assembly constituency, he said.
