Titlagarh/Sonepur: Ahead of the 2nd phase polls, two BJD MLA candidates Tukuni Sahu and Padmanabh Behera were opposed by local residents in their respective constituencies inTitlagarh and Sonepur today.

During a poll campaign at Ward no 14 of Titlagarh, locals gheraoed Sahu and detained her alleging that no development work was done in last five years. It was only after police reached the spot, Sahu was rescued.

It is not for the first time that Sahu drew public ire during poll campaigning. Earlier, a video purportedly showing Sahu being questioned by locals during her campaigning had gone viral on several social media platforms. As per reports, Sahu had gone for campaigning to the Assembly segment on Friday when some residents of Shibhratapara stopped her midway and questioned her on the lack of basic facilities including road, water and power supply.

On the other hand, local residents of Phulamuthi village of Sonepur opposed BJD's MLA candidate Padmanabh Behera during election campaigning in the area. The villagers expressed displeasure over water shortage in Chaukijor check dam in Binika.

The local residents alleged that due to lack of water supply and non-functional water pumps, several acres of land have dried up in the region which has now started to adversely affect their lives.
