In a significant political development, supporters of MLA Arvind Mohapatra gathered at Derabish area under Patkura constituency in Kendrapara district on Sunday following his suspension from BJD.
As per reports, many leaders alleged that conspiracy was hatched to suspend Arvind from the party. Many supporters demanded that the BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik should reconsider the action taken against the MLA.
The supporters of the MLA claimed that Arvind was organising various political programmes with all the party workers and he was never involved in any kind of anti-party activities.
Meanwhile, senior BJD leader Atanu Sabyasachi faced serious allegations from party workers. It was alleged that Atanu Sabyasachi, along with his brother Shantanu Nayak and Madhumati Agrawal, daughter of Ved Prakash Agrawal, distributed money to influence the voters against Arvind. Despite submitting written complaints, the incident was reportedly suppressed.

"He (Arvind Mohapatra) has been suspended from the party over false allegations of anti-party activities. We are protesting against the action and it should be reconsidered. Naveen Patnaik had shown confidence in him and he was undertaking developmental activities in Patkura for the last one and half year. Still three and half years are left and we are with the MLA. A coterie group is functioning in Bhubaneswar. They don't have even the capacity to become a Ward Member or Sarpanch. However, they are giving speeches in media," said former Kendrapara District BJD General Secretary Mahendra Singh.
"There is no problem to meet BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik over the matter. The party supremo must have taken the decision after receiving reports about some anti-party activities. We can't tell anything about the decision. Nobody has worked against him. Rather, we all have worked to help him emerge victorious in Patkura," said Kendrapara district BJD president Shiva Prasad Bhol.
