New Delhi: The Members of Parliament of the Biju Janata Dal today staged dharna in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the premises of the Parliament to protest against the continuous neglect of the state in the Rail Budget. The members from both the Houses of the Parliament displaying banners gave slogans against the UPA government at the Centre.

The members alleged that the allocation of funds provided to Odisha in the Rail Budget was too meagre in proportion to the revenues collected by the East Coast Railways. The funds provided to the state for various projects in the 2012 budget was only one-third of the demand made by the state, the members rued. The BJD members alleged that the budgetary allocations for the construction of the Khurda-Bolangir railway line was abysmally poor. The BJD members who participated in the dharna included Arjun Sethi, Baijayant Panda, Bhratruhari Mahatab, Tathagat Satpathy, Baishnab Charan Parida, Prasanna Patsani, Mangala Kissan and Rudramadhav Ray.
