Kendrapara: With 13 wards out of a total of 21 wards in its kitty the ruling Biju Janata Dal has attained majority in the local municipality. The counting of votes began at the government high school around eight in the morning and all the results were out within one and half hour.

The Congress with five seats had to remain satisfied at the second spot. While after much tall claims both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Nationalist Congress Party were only able to open their accounts with one seat each in the elections. An independent won the ward number three seat in the municipality. BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Pattanai after the election results were said that that his party would provide a transparent and corruption free administration in the municipality and would make an alround effort for the development of the town.
