BJD, Congress in war of words seeking credit for Birupa River bridge
Cuttack: Both Congress and BJD engaged in a war of words today seeking to take credit for the proposed Birupa River bridge at Rameswar in Salepur. Congress MLA from Salepur Prakash Chandra Behera and local BJD leaders targeted each other today vying for credit.
According to sources, MLA Behera took out a massive rally and laid the foundation stone for the proposed bridge today. He also claimed that the bridge is the result of his efforts and is being constructed under the Biju Setu Yojana at a cost of Rs 13.86 crore.
“Being the MLA of the region, I have the constitutional right to lay the foundation stone for the proposed bridge as the work is being done by us and the local people,” MLA Behera said.
On the other hand, BJD’s district president, Ramesh Jena said “Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will lay the foundation of the proposed bridge over Birupa River. A decision has been taken in this regard but the dates are yet to be finalized.”
