Bhubaneswar: Bone-chilling cold wave conditions continue to sweep most parts of Odisha with more than ten places recording temperatures below 10 degree Celsius on Wednesday. For the past 3-4 days, temperature drop has led to snowfall in Koida area of Sundergarh while other parts of the district also witnessed temperatures below 10 deg Celsius.

Similarly, places in interior Odisha and other districts including Kandhamal, Keonjhar and Balasore too maintained mercury level below 10 degrees.

On Tuesday, Phulbani in Kandhamal district recorded the season’s lowest with 5.0 degree Celsius while Daringbadi followed with 6.0 degree Celsius. Keonjhar also shivered at 7.2 degress, sources in the Indian Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar stated.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre Director, HR Biswas said that weather will remain dry in most places but there is possibility of rain in one or two places over a few districts in south Odisha.

"Weather in almost all the districts will remain dry in the next 24 hours. However, in the next 48 hours, there are chances of very light rainfall in one or two places over the southern districts including Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal. The cold wave conditions won't prevail for a longer time and the temperature will be a little below normal in the coming days," Biswas said.
