Bhubaneswar: The ‘Birds of Odisha- A Pictorial Encyclopedia’ by Pramod Dhal and Gloria Dhal was unveiled during a function at Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre in Bhubaneswar on Thursday evening. Former Kendrapara MP and senior BJP leader Baijayant Jay Panda launched the book.

“I feel very happy to attend the book unveiling event. The book is based on the birds of Odisha. The book is not only confined to the State or national level, it is an international standard book,” said Jay Panda.

“The book aims to preserve the wildlife of the State. Odisha is filled with natural beauty and steps should be taken to highlight it,” he added.

The 720-page book contains various information including scientific, local, biological names, natural habitat of around 316 species of birds found in Odisha. The book also features around 1,800 photographs of those avian species.

“The book will serve people from different sectors of life including researchers, scholars, and forest wildlife & law specialists,” Pramod Dhal said.

Environmentalist Biswajit Mohanty, former wildlife warden Suresh Chandra Mishra, former police officer Kulamani Deo and Nilgiri king Jayant Chandra Mardaraj were among the other distinguished guests who graced the occasion.
