Bird flu outbreak: Culling operations continue in Puri
Puri: With an aim to curtail the spread of bird flu, mass culling of chickens continued in villages under Krushna Prasad block of Puri district for the seventh day today. Around 12,000 chickens have been culled, informed sources.
According to sources, one team reached Kanhaipur while another reached Ora village today to carry out culling activities. The administration has also undertaken various steps to create awareness about cleanliness, sources added.
Yesterday, the Odisha Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy had stated that the bird flu situation in the affected region still remains grim and the State government is taking all possible measures to contain the outbreak.
As a precautionary measure, the State Government has directed schools and anganwadi centres not to provide eggs to children. Similarly, sale of eggs and chicken has been banned in Krushna Prasad block for next few days.
