Boudh/ Sundargarh: One person lost his life in a road accident at Chari Chhak Bazaar under Puruna Cuttack police limits in Boudh today. The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Behera of Gunduribida village.

Following the mishap, locals staged a road blockade on National Highway-57 demanding compensation for the kin of the deceased.

According to sources, Behera was killed after his bike collided with a pickup van in front of State Bank of India at Chari Chhak Bazaar. While Behera died on the spot, driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot.

On receiving information, Puruna Cuttack police reached the spot and pacified the agitating locals.

In another incident, at least five persons were injured after a bus they were travelling in turned turtle near Kukulata Ghati under Tikayatpalli police limits in Bonai area of Sundergarh district late on Saturday night.

According to sources, all the passengers are officials of Laimara school in Deogarh district and were on their way to Puri for picnicking.

As per reports, the driver lost control of the bus as a result of which the vehicle fell off Kulukuta ghati. Later, all the injured including the headmistress of the school were rushed to a local hospital where they are currently undergoing treatment.

On receiving information, Tikayatpalli police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident.
