Biju Patnaik’s birth anniversary: PM Modi, Odisha CM Majhi, BJP VP Jay Panda, others remember the visionary leader

State-level celebrations were held on Thursday to mark the birth anniversary of legendary leader and former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik, with leaders across party lines paying tributes to the iconic figure.

Speaker Surama Padhy, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and several senior leaders offered floral tributes at the statue of Biju Patnaik within the Assembly premises as part of the commemorative events.

Tributes At Assembly Premises

After offering tributes, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that many of Biju Patnaik’s dreams still remain unfulfilled. He stated that the government has taken a resolve to fulfil his vision while working towards building a prosperous Odisha.

The Chief Minister also reflected on the life and legacy of the former leader, noting that Biju Patnaik’s life was marked by struggle and determination. He said that Biju Patnaik never compromised on honour and self-respect and consistently prioritised development alongside service to the people.

National Leaders Remember Biju Patnaik

National and regional leaders also paid their respects through messages and social media posts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "On his birth anniversary today, I pay tributes to Shri Biju Patnaik Ji and remember his passion towards furthering the progress of Odisha."

PM Modi also posted another tweet in Odia language.

Odisha CM Mohan Majhi tweeted, "On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the distinguished leader, freedom fighter, and former Chief Minister of Odisha, the late Biju Patnaik, heartfelt salutations."

Political Leaders Recall Legacy

Kendrapara MP and BJP National Vice President Baijayant Panda also paid tribute, writing in a tweet, "Distinguished freedom fighter, former Chief Minister of Odisha, unparalleled mass leader, daring pilot, renowned industrialist and industrial magnate, pioneering visionary Biju Patnaik—on his birth anniversary, my humble and devoted tribute. It is my great fortune that due to our family's close intimacy with Bijubabu, I had the opportunity to know him intimately and learn much from him."

Remembering the late leader and his father, BJD President Naveen Patnaik wrote, "On the birth anniversary of the revolutionary leader, great mass hero, and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik, I convey my humble tribute. His unwavering resolve to enhance the pride of the Odia community while building Odisha into an excellent state remains forever inspiring."
