Bargarh: Stage is set for the much-awaited Bijepur bypoll scheduled to be held on October 21. The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for conduct of the by-election in a free and fair manner, informed Bargarh district collector Jyoti Ranjan Pradhan.

Special arrangements have been made for the voters so that they can exercise their franchise in 285 booths.

“Of the total booths, 135 have been identified as senisitive and special security measures including installation of CCTV cameras and webcasting have been arranged,” said Pradhan.

Pradhan further informed that elaborate plans have been drawn to ensure that the voting is conducted in a smooth manner. To resolve the issues of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) malfunction, M3 EVMs will be used during the bypoll.

District administration officials informed that all the polling parties along with EVMs and other materials will be despatched to their respective polling booths today.

Special arrangements have been made for voters including seating and drinking water arrangements. As per instructions of the Election Commission Of India (ECI), vehicles will be deployed to bring elderly and Divyang voters from their house to the polling booths.

Meanwhile, heavy weights of political parties including BJD, BJP and Congress are making a last ditch effort to woo voters on the last day of campaigning for the Bijepur bypoll today.

Bargarh SP Padmini Sahu informed that 33 platoons of police force, 3 companies of CRPF, 7 DSPs, 25 Inspectors, 75 ASIs and SIs have been mobilised to conduct the Bijepur bypolls in a peaceful manner.

Forty mobile patrolling teams, six flying and static squads have also been formed, Sahu added.
