Bijepur: Ahead of the Bijepur bypoll on October 21, BJD candidate Rita Sahu, BJP Candidate Sanath Gartia and Congress's Dilip Panda filed their nominations in Bargarh today, the last day of filing the papers.

Panda accompanied by hundreds of his supporters took out a procession and reached Padampur sub-collector's office today before submitting his nomination to the Returning Officer. Among others, Congress leaders Pradeep Majhi, Pradeep Devta, Samarendra Mishra and other party leaders were also present at the office.

Later, BJD candidate Rita Sahu also submitted her nomination papers before the Returning Officer for the crucial by-poll. Subsequently, BJP candidate Sanath Gartia also submitted his papers to the Returning Officer.

Speaking about the strategies and agenda of Congress party for the by-election, Panda said, "We will contest the poll with the support of our people. I promise to address the problems of the people of Bijepur as nothing has been resolved so far."

Asked whether the party will succeed to retain Bijepur seat which was once a Congress bastion, Panda said, "People in Bijepur want Congress to win the seat as they are fed up with BJD and BJP," he added.
