Bhubaneswar: The vigilance division here on Saturday conducted twin high-profile raids on the offices and residences of two big shots who allegedly amassed wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income.
The big shots who came under vigilance net were Shiv Prasad Das, under secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Development and Salil Kumar Sethi, Junior MVI, who was still on duty at Biramitrapur check gate in Sundergarh.
There was a combined raid on Das’ office and residence at sector-9, his houses in Puri and Kolkata. His building at sector-9 comprising around 100 rooms houses a mess having 500 inmates. While the estimated price of this building is above Rs 2 crore, the worth of his immovable property is estimated to be around Rs 5 crore.
According to sources, there were simultaneous raids on Sethi’s various residences in Bhubaneswar, Rourkela and Nimapada in Puri and was found to have amassed wealth worth above Rs 1 crore.
