In a significant development in the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam, the Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested another key accused believed to be closely linked to the main mastermind, Shankar Prusty.

The accused, identified as Sagar Gouda, was reportedly working as Prusty’s caretaker and played a crucial role in the smooth operation of the illegal network.

According to sources, Sagar acted as an intermediary, facilitating communication between Shankar Prusty and various agents involved in the recruitment scam. He is said to have managed the Digha module, one of the operational wings of the racket that allegedly handled candidate coordination, money collection, and other logistical arrangements.

This development comes a day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) issued a notification confirming that it will take over the probe from the Odisha Crime Branch. The CBI and the Crime Branch are currently in close coordination to ensure a smooth transition of the investigation process.

Officials believe that the arrest of Sagar Gouda will help uncover more details about the involvement of other agents and potential beneficiaries in the high-profile recruitment scam that has rocked the state’s law enforcement system.
