Under the revised surrender scheme, Maoists who lay down arms with an AK-47 rifle will now receive Rs 4.95 lakh, a significant increase from the earlier Rs 3.30 lakh. Those surrendering with an SLR rifle, previously eligible for Rs 1.65 lakh, will also be entitled to Rs 4.95 lakh.

For rebels carrying a bounty of Rs 10 lakh or more, the government has announced an assistance amount of Rs 5 lakh upon surrender. Additionally, all minor cases registered against them will be withdrawn, offering an opportunity for rehabilitation and a return to a peaceful life.

Officials said the enhanced package is intended to encourage more rebels to leave the path of violence and rejoin the democratic system. Authorities have described the move as the last chance for Maoists still active in remote areas.

Security agencies hope that the revised policy will restore normalcy, promote development, and reduce extremist activity across Maoist-affected districts in the coming months.
