Bidhayak Medha Samman Yojana: All about the scheme to strengthen grassroots education in Odisha

In an effort to strengthen the education system at the constituency level, the Odisha government has launched the Bidhayak Medha Samman Yojana, a scheme aimed at recognising and rewarding academic excellence, improving school performance, and reducing dropout rates.

The scheme was launched by Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj during a headmasters’ conclave held in Dhamnagar of Bhadrak district. 

Addressing the gathering, the Minister said the initiative focuses on improving the overall quality of education in the Dhamnagar Assembly constituency by encouraging students, teachers and educational institutions that demonstrate excellence.

Bidhayak Medha Samman Yojana: Aim of the Scheme

- Strengthen the education system at the Assembly constituency level.

- Promote quality education by encouraging academic excellence among students.

- Reduce school dropout rates and improve student enrolment.

- Motivate teachers, headmasters and educational institutions to perform better.

Key Benefits of the Scheme:

- Students securing A1 grade in the Class X examination will receive a cash award of Rs 5,000.

- Students performing well in state-level science exhibitions, sports and cultural competitions will also get Rs 5,000 each.

- Headmasters of schools with the highest number of A1 grade students, the lowest dropout rate, and the highest enrolment in an academic year will receive Rs 10,000 each.

Awards will be given under various categories, including- Student awards, Best-performing school awards, and Awards for dropout reduction.
