Bhubaneswar–Dubai flight cancelled amid Middle East war situation

The Bhubaneswar-Dubai flight was cancelled on Monday in view of the prevailing war situation in the Middle East, airport authorities confirmed. The disruption follows airspace restrictions across several West Asian destinations.

Biju Patnaik International Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan stated that the scheduled service to Dubai was called off due to the developing situation in the region.

“Today’s flight scheduled to depart for Dubai has been cancelled,” Pradhan said.

He clarified that there are no daily direct flights from Bhubaneswar to Dubai or other Middle Eastern destinations. The service operates three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

“Last Friday, the flight departed as usual. However, since Saturday, the airspace over Muscat, Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai has been affected. As a result, today’s flight was cancelled. The airline had informed passengers in advance, and we hope they do not face any inconvenience,” he added.

Decision on Wednesday Flight Pending

The Airport Director further informed that the decision to cancel Monday’s flight was taken a day earlier after assessing the situation.

“It was decided yesterday that Monday’s flight would be cancelled. The Ministry of Civil Aviation is monitoring the situation on a daily basis. Flights arriving from western sectors are affected, while eastbound flights and those coming from the East remain unaffected,” Pradhan said.

A final decision on the operation of Wednesday’s Bhubaneswar–Dubai flight will be taken on Tuesday after reviewing the latest developments, sources said.
