Bhubaneswar woman brutally assaulted over plucking flowers

In an unusual and unfortunate incident, a woman was brutally assaulted on the road by a miscreant over a trivial matter of plucking flowers at the GGP Colony area in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

The victim has been identified as Parbati Pradhan.

As per reports, Pradhan was plucking flowers from a tree near the wall of a house in the morning. A youth reportedly came to her and asked why she was plucking flowers. Subsequently, he brutally assaulted her on the road despite repeated attempts by locals to intervene. The attacker paid no heed to the bystanders trying to stop the assault.

The entire incident has been captured on the CCTV camera installed in the area.

Following a formal complaint lodged at Mancheswar police station, authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter based on the CCTV footage.

The victim and her family members also met the Deputy Commissioner of Police today by alleging that no action has been taken against the accused yet.

As per sources, there has been a dispute over the house for a long time. The accused lost his cool and assaulted the woman as she was plucking flowers in the area.
