In a shocking incident reported from the capital city, a woman was allegedly attacked with a sword near Satsang Vihar Park under the jurisdiction of Shahid Nagar Police Station on Thursday. The victim has been identified as Kanakalata Sahu, a resident of Baliapata Basti in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, the attack is suspected to be linked to a complaint filed by the woman against her neighbour. On Wednesday, Kanakalata had lodged an FIR at Shahid Nagar Police Station, accusing her neighbour of stealing her mobile phone and cash.
Attack Over Theft
Police sources revealed that on Thursday, the accused allegedly called the woman on the pretext of returning the stolen money. However, when she reached the designated spot near Satsang Vihar Park, she was reportedly ambushed by a group of five to six individuals. During the assault, she was attacked with a sword, leaving her critically injured.

Locals immediately rushed to her rescue and shifted her to a nearby hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Her condition is reported to be serious.
Probe Launched
Upon receiving information, Shahid Nagar Police reached the scene and initiated an investigation. One youth allegedly involved in the attack has been detained for questioning, while efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the remaining accused persons.
So far, no official statement has been issued by the police regarding the incident. Further investigation is ongoing.
