Police have intensified the investigation into the murder of a transgender person near the CIFA area on the outskirts of Odisha's Bhubaneswar, even as no major breakthrough has been reported two days after the incident.
The victim has been identified as Anjali, also known as Sona. Investigators suspect the involvement of more than two persons in the crime. In connection with the case, Pipili police have so far questioned over 10 individuals, officials said.
As part of the ongoing probe, police are examining CCTV footage from multiple locations to trace the movement of suspects and gather further clues. At the time of reporting on Tuesday, footage from cameras installed along the Uttara Chhak stretch up to Bhubaneswar and Puri was being scrutinised.
Police are investigating the murder from two possible angles. One line of inquiry suggests the killing may have been committed during a robbery, while another theory being examined is the possibility of a dispute within the transgender community, sources said.
Despite sustained efforts, no arrests have been made so far, and police officials are yet to identify the perpetrators.
