Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday sent a formal proposal to the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (HRD) about establishment of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Bhubaneswar.

Official sources said, the government has zeroed in on two places in the vicinity of the state capital for the premier institute and asked the Centre to pick any one of them.

Sources said, the adjoining areas of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIT) in Gothpatna and the location near the new campus of Indian Institute of Technology, which is coming up in Arugul are the sites chosen by the state government.

“The proposal which we have sent to the Centre has also been shared with Indian Institute of Management-Kolkata, which is the mentor of the proposed B-School in Odisha,” said an official.

The official added a site selection committee from the Centre will arrive in Odisha in a week to finalise one of the two places for the institute.

“Very soon a site in the state capital will be taken up to develop and run the premier institute temporarily,” he added.
