Bhubaneswar railway station redevelopment: BDA launches demolition drive in Master Canteen

The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) on Friday launched a major demolition drive in the Master Canteen area, targeting illegal structures that have been operating for several years.

The move is part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to regulate urban development, redevelopment of Bhubaneswar railway station and clear unauthorized constructions in key city areas.

Several shops, hotels, and commercial establishments that were functioning without proper permits have been demolished. Among these, structures near the Bhubaneswar Railway Station were also removed, as they were constructed illegally and obstructed the ongoing redevelopment and modernization work in the area.

Officials stated that the demolition is aimed at ensuring the smooth execution of urban projects and improving public infrastructure.

BDA authorities have indicated that the demolition drive will continue in the coming days, with all remaining illegal establishments in the Master Canteen area slated for removal.

The BDA coordinated with local law enforcement to carry out the operation smoothly and prevent any disruption to residents and commuters.
