Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: In what seems to be an outcome of faulty coupling, the bogies of Bhubaneswar-bound Sampark Kranti Express got detached on Friday morning twice - first shortly after its departure from Anand Vihar Terminal (ANVT) in Delhi and again at Hathras station, triggering panic among the passengers.

A woman on-board, travelling to Jamshedpur said, "The train is running late by some 5-6 hours. It is scheduled to reach Tatanagar Junction at 4:25 AM tomorrow but I think it will reach around 9 AM or 10 AM. The train halted twice at two different places for hours. Definitely such a situation is chaotic."

Another passenger Balakrushna Behera shared a video narrating his experience. "I'm travelling to Bhubaneswar from New Delhi. The train decoupled twice. It resumed services after they fixed the issue at ANVT. But again the bogies got detached at Hathras station. They (authorities) are not listening to us," he alleged.

The Railways, however, have clarified that all passengers are safe and there is no cause of concern.

Sampark Kranti Express which left Anand Vihar Delhi this morning has reported train parting twice since departure. Once at Anand Vihar just after departure and next at Hathras station. The train is being thoroughly checked. It underwent a full-scale examination once again at Tundla. Though this news appears worrisome, we would like to inform all concerned that all the passengers are safe and there is no cause for concern.

-- Railways' Clarification.

This is not the first instance that rail passengers had a harrowing time due to glitches in the coupling arrangement of the bogies. A few months back, the passengers of Secunderabad-bound Visakha Express had a close shave after the engine rolled with the AC coaches leaving behind all other bogies, moments after the train departed from Balugaon railway station.
