Berhampur: In a move to thwart robbery bids and nab anti-socials in the town, Berhampur Police has gone one step ahead by launching a 24-hour bike patrolling initiative today.

As many as 20 bikes with two cops on each vehicle were flagged-off for patrolling in the city streets and areas where four-wheelers cannot enter. The initiative has been launched after the directive of Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra.

The city police's new initiative has been highly appreciated by the residents of the Silk City.

"It is a very good decision taken by the police to maintain law and order in the city. However, we should not depend on police only. We, as women also should be aware and careful of the criminals," said Sujata, a resident of Berhampur.

"Sometimes criminals loot people in the guise of police. However, this kind of initiative by the police will bring down the criminal activities in the city.  I welcome the decision and hope this becomes successful," said Prakash Panda, another resident.

Speaking about the initiative, Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra said the cops will patrol in civil dress in every streets of the city.
