Tension erupted at the Inter-Medical College Meet held at MKCG Medical College in Berhampur on Tuesday morning, as a clash broke out between students of MKCG, Burla, and Cuttack SCB Medical College.
The incident occurred in front of Hostel Number 3 and left multiple students injured, prompting immediate medical attention.
Scuffle Breaks Out At MKCG
According to sources, students from Burla and Cuttack arrived at MKCG in the early morning and late evening, joining the ongoing meet that had begun on October 11.
A scuffle reportedly broke out during interactions among the students, escalating into a physical altercation in the hostel premises. Several students from all three colleges sustained injuries and were treated at the college hospital before being discharged.
MKCG Dean Professor Suchitra Das acknowledged the incident, describing it as ‘regrettable’ and stated that no such confrontation should occur in future events.
Council Meet Scheduled
She confirmed that a college council meeting has been convened at 4 PM today to review the incident and discuss preventive measures. The council will include representatives from all participating institutions in the inter-medical meet.
Notably, the inter-medical meet was scheduled to continue until October 18, with participation from students of 18 medical colleges across the region. Following the scuffle, Das announced that no inter-medical meet will be conducted tomorrow, as authorities seek to ensure the safety and discipline of participants.

As of the last reports, police have not registered a case against any of the students, nor have they shared details of any investigation.
MKCG administration has also not offered any additional details regarding the cause of the escalation, but has stated that she will provide additional details following the council meeting scheduled today.
