The departed Odia singer had symptoms of alcohol-related liver cirrhosis, which had already become evident.
The doctor stated that he had repeatedly advised Humane Sagar to reduce his workload and take adequate rest every day. “I had been telling him to slow down and rest more,” Dr. Kar stated, noting that the singer visited him every two to three months for follow-ups.
According to Dr. Kar, at that time, the singer’s support staff had been bringing him regularly for treatment. He added that irregular eating habits and frequent sleepless nights due to continuous late-night work further aggravated his health condition.
“He (Humane Sagar) had been coming to me when he was having complications such as abdominal bloating, leg swelling, and breathlessness, etc. He was then diagnosed with alcohol-related liver cirrhosis with ascites. After undergoing treatment for a few days, he was being discharged from the health facility,” Dr. Kar expressed when contacted.
Liver cirrhosis with ascites is the accumulation of fluid in the abdomen, a common and serious complication of advanced liver scarring (cirrhosis). It indicates a progression to decompensated cirrhosis and is caused by portal hypertension and fluid shifts.
Worth mentioning, an FIR has been lodged on Friday at the Town Police Station in Bolangir against two of his managers. Written complaints have been lodged naming Dinesh Behera and Prashant Behera, both of whom were handling Humane Sagar’s programme schedules in recent months.
