Rayagada: Normal life was hit in Rayagada on Tuesday as the district unit of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) called for a bandh protesting the killing of the trustee of Majhighariani temple and his brother.

Meanwhile, police have arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in the crime and seized the weapons suspected to have been used in the attack.

The duo N Pairraju Chowdhury and N. Nageswar was brutally hacked to death on Sunday when they were returning from temple. They were brothers of local BJD leader Bhaskar Rao.

Life came to a standstill as the commercial establishments remained closed throughout the day, while vehicular movement was also affected.

It may be mentioned here that Pairraju and Nageswar were attacked while returning to home after offering prayers to the Goddess. A group of assailants had suddenly attacked them with sharp weapons. While Pairraju died on the spot, Nageswar succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
