The district administration of Balasore took a major decision to prevent illegal mining in the Kupari Sarisua mine area under Khaira block. As part of the initiative, CCTV cameras will be installed across key locations, and 24-hour monitoring with checkposts will be enforced by the authorities.

As per reports, senior officials, accompanied by the District Collector, visited the site to assess the situation and identify appropriate locations for surveillance equipment and police deployment. The District Collector instructed that all these measures be implemented within the next four days.

Checkposts to Be Set Up

Balasore Collector Suryawanshi Mayur stated, “The way we tightened enforcement in Soro, we will do so here as well after assessing where to install cameras and deploy police force. The administration is taking all required steps to curb the illegal stone blasting that is going on in the area.”

Officials said that the combined strategy of CCTV monitoring and physical checkposts aims to ensure continuous oversight of mining activities and prevent unauthorised operations in the region. The site assessment by senior officials also included a review of terrain and critical points where illegal mining is most prevalent.
