Bhubaneswar: A Parliamentary delegation headed by senior BJD leader and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda left for Japan on Sunday to participate in a dialogue on Indo-Japan relations.
 
For this year, the theme of the dialogue titled ‘India-Japan Relations: Opportunities and Challenges’ is infrastructure and urban development. It has been organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with support from the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Japan. 
 
Panda is scheduled to deliver a public lecture on India-Japan bilateral relations on October 9 focusing the infrastructure and urban Development. Japanese counterparts Toshihiro Nikai, MP, Chairman, Comprehensive Research Commission on the Establishment of Disaster Resilient, Japan, and Nobutaka Machimura, Chairman of the Japan-India Parliamentary Friendship League,will share thoughts with the Indian delegates. 
 
The delegation is also scheduled to visit the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism to observe the initiatives taken by government of Japan for the development of infrastructure in the fields of public transport, road and port.
 
The team will also meet other officials to study operations of the metro rail functioning, the waste disposal and recycling systems in their country. 
 
The Parliamentary team has been accompanied by MP Ajay Kumar (Lok Sabha, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (P)), BJD MP Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo and Congress MP Viswanathan Perumal.
