Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Tuesday obtained a five-day remand of Diptiranjan Patnaik, the main accused in the high-profile Bachansudha murder case.

Sources said the police informed a lower court here that Dipti's remand was needed for a detailed interrogation to ascertain the real motive behind the crime and know whether there is an involvement of one or more persons in the murder.

"We will also conduct a psycho-analysis test of Diptiranjan to find out whether he was alone involved in the murder or there were any accomplice," said police commissioner Dr R P Sharma.

Besides, the cops are planning to do a DNA test of blood stained T-shirt that was found in a drain in front of the house of the victim, Sharma added.

To unravel the mystery behind the murder the investigating officials will also look into the call details of the mobile phone of the accused. "The probe will include with whom Dipti spoke to before and after committing the murder," said Sharma.

Notably, on Septemebr 14, the police arrested security guard Diptiranjan Patnaik from Nayagarh, who had been absconding since Bachansudha was found dead at her Sabar Sahi home here on September 11.

Dipti, who hails from Niali in Cuttack district, has already confessed to killing the lady entrepreneur.
