Babies named after cyclone ‘Titli’ in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Amidst the destruction caused by the cyclonic storm ‘Titli’, four families in Nayagarh, Ganjam and Jagatsinghpur districts had a reason to smile today.
The families were blessed with baby girls and interestingly all of them were named after the cyclone ‘Titli’.
“I was admitted to the hospital on October 10. As the girl was born between 1 am and 2 am (October 11), barely few hours before the cyclone had hit the landmass in Odisha, we decided to name her Titli,” said mother of the newborn, Anita Samal of Jagatsinghpur.
Another woman Gitanjali Biswal, who delivered a girl child at the Jagatsinghpur district hospital Gitanjali Biswal, too expressed her happiness to have named her daughter after the cyclone.
“There was much anxiety due to the cyclone. Everybody was in a state of fear. But despite this, we are happy that we have been blessed with a girl child,” said Biswal.
CDMO of Jagatsinghpur district hospital Ashok Pattnaik informed that, “Keeping in view the cyclone alert, we had admitted 18 expectant mothers to the hospital much in advance. Out of them, six women delivered babies at the hospital during the cyclone.”
Debi Prasad Das, a proud father from Nayagarh said, “There was much panic following the cyclone threat. I rushed my wife to the hospital at around 7 pm yesterday. She later delivered a baby girl at around 7.40 pm. We have named her ‘Titli’ and everybody in the family is happy.”
