Puri: Irked over the alleged comment made by Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on the entrance of non-Hindus to the Jagannath Temple here, members of ‘Sri Jagannath Sevayat Sammeelani’ and ‘Sri Jagannath Sena’, two Hindu outfits staged protest infront of the Simhadwar and Sri Naara of the temple on Friday.

Raising slogans against the yoga guru, the members burnt posters of Ramdev infront of the temple. An FIR against him was also lodged at the Simhadwar police station.

“People of other religion are not allowed inside the temple so Lord Jagannath himself comes out once in a year on Rath yatra so that all can offer prayers to him. This has been our tradition and nobody has any right to break our tradition”, said Priyadarshan Patnaik, Convener, Sri Jagannath Sena.

Meanwhile, Baba Ramdev has expressed his dissatisfaction over the issue and said that he was misquoted.

“I am very hurt over the issue as I was misquoted which should not have happened”, said Baba Ramdev.

However the agitators were in a no mood to accept this explanation and demanded withdrawal of his statement.

It may be recalled that on Thursday, in an Yoga camp oraganised at Talabania, Ramdev had said that the temple is home to Lord Jagannath and whoever comes to offer prayer should not be barred from that despite their religious differences. Though the temple administration has framed certain guide lines on this but on moral ground all should be treated equally, Baba had said.
