Balasore: A day after public vented their ire on police following the death of a minor boy inside a dhaba at Baliapal of Balasore district, Director General (DG) of Police today directed the State Human Rights Protection Cell (HRPC) to conduct a detailed probe into the matter.

Senior police officials informed that a murder case has been registered based on the complaint filed by the family members of the deceased boy.  Besides, the concerned Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Baliapal Police Station, Prabhu Kalyan Acharya, who was thrashed by public over the matter, has been transferred by Balasore district Superintendent of Police.

As per reports, Balasore SP transferred the IIC to the district police headquarters. Similarly, Remuna IIC Ranjit Sahu has been shifted to Baliapal Police Station.

It is pertinent to mention here that IIC Acharya was thrashed by a mob after the body of a minor boy was found hanging inside a dhaba yesterday. The deceased has been identified as Bijay Dalei, of Uluda village. The incident sparked tension in the area after locals torched the house of the dhaba owner. Acharya was also chased and thrashed by the mob when he had gone to the spot to carry out an investigation.

Tension prevailed in the area today as well after the post mortem of the deceased minor boy was allegedly conducted without informing the family members.

Demanding compensation of Rs 20 lakh for the family of the deceased and immediate arrest of the accused, locals detained the ambulance and police team and later staged a road blockade today.

Jaleswar SDPO, Sudarshan Das, on the other hand, informed that following necessary permission from the district collector, the post mortem was conducted in the night.
