Armed robbery attempt at former Champua MLA’s residence foiled Photograph: (OTV)
An armed robbery attempt took place at the residence of former Champua MLA Jitu Patnaik in Keonjhar on late Sunday night.
As per reports, the miscreants bound two security guards and tried to enter the old house of Patnaik near Joda Women's College. However, the robbers were forced to abandon the robbery attempt and escape from the scene due to the security guards' screams.
Based on the CCTV footage, Joda police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
As per sources, as many as six armed robbers arrived in an SUV at around 1:30 AM last night. All were dressed in black and had their faces covered. While fleeing, the robbers abandoned cutters, rods, bags, and gloves used in the attempt.
No comments could be obtained from Jitu Patnaik or the police regarding the attempted robbery.

Earlier in 2022, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had seized Rs 133 crore FD after raids at several places associated with Patnaik over money laundering charges.
Teams of the law enforcement agency had conducted simultaneous searches at four places, including Patnaik's residence in Joda, office at Baneikala chhak in Keonjhar and house at Kabisurya Nagar in Bhubaneswar.
