Armed robbery at businessman’s house in Keonjhar

An armed robbery was reported at the residence of a businessman in Bayapandadhar village under the jurisdiction of Shuakathi police station in Telkoi block of Keonjhar district on Monday night, creating panic in the area.

As per preliminary information, eight masked miscreants arrived at the house on the pretext of asking for drinking water. Once inside, they brandished firearms and threatened the family members, holding them hostage. The accused then ransacked the house and looted cash and valuables.

The robbers allegedly fled with Rs 6.80 lakh in cash and gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 11 lakh. After committing the crime, the miscreants escaped from the spot, taking advantage of the darkness.

Upon receiving the complaint, police rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits. Police are also questioning locals and examining possible CCTV footage from nearby areas as part of the probe.
