Armed miscreants loot gold jewelry, cash from a house in Berhampur

Ganjam: A group of armed miscreants looted cash and gold ornaments after barging into the house of a former bank employee in Vijay Vihar area of Berhampur late on Monday night.

As per reports, the miscreants executed the loot at the residence of one M Kanak Raju, a former bank manager and attacked him with sharp weapons for opposing the crime.

The miscreants robbed gold ornaments weighing around 100 grams and cash worth Rs 15,000, police informed.

“The looters had covered their faces with clothes. When I opposed them they held me and thrashed me. They threatened other family members with the weapons and took away gold ornaments and cash,” said Raju.

After the robbery, the miscreants locked the family members in a room before fleeing the spot.

Police is suspecting the involvement of a professional gang in the crime.

“Based on the reports, we have filed a case and have initiated a probe. A scientific team and a dog squad have been sent to the spot for investigation,” informed Berhampur SP, Pinak Mishra.
