Panic gripped parts of the state capital on Sunday after a sword attack was reported near Big Bazaar in Bhubaneswar, under the jurisdiction of Kharavela Nagar police station, leaving two young men seriously injured.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred during a feast organised by employees of a private company. What began as a routine social gathering reportedly took a violent turn after an argument broke out among a few individuals present at the event. The verbal altercation soon escalated, culminating in a shocking act of violence.
Sources said that one youth allegedly pulled out a sword and attacked, leaving two others with severe injuries. The sudden attack created chaos and fear at the spot, especially given the incident occurred in a busy commercial area, prompting people nearby to flee in panic.

Injured Shifted to Hospital
The injured youths, who sustained sword wounds, were immediately rushed to Capital Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Hospital sources said their condition is being closely monitored, and further medical updates are awaited.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns over public safety and law and order in crowded city areas, particularly during private gatherings and late-night events. Police personnel rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and have reportedly begun an investigation to ascertain the exact sequence of events and identify those involved.
