Bhubaneswar: Odia boy Anupam Saha of Kesinga in Kalahandi district has bagged 35th position in the coveted Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examinations 2011. According to the results announced on Friday another Odia boy Laxminarayan Mishra, currently working with Indian Revenue Service has secured 56th rank in the list.  

The other Odia students who toiled hard to make Odisha proud are Devpriya Bardhan, Souma Mishra, Santosh Kumar Mishra, Sudhanshu Sekhar Mishra, Sudipta Das, Soumendu Kumar Das, Sachin Kumar Mishra, Sambit Saurabh Nayak and Priyanka Das.

This year as many as 4,72,290 candidates applied for this examination, out of which 2,43,003 wrote the test. The release by the Department of Personnel and Training said 11,984 candidates were declared qualified for the main written examination out of which 2,417 candidates were selected for the personality test.

A total of 910 candidates -- 715 male and 195 female -- have been selected for appointments to various central services like the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) among others.
