Bhubaneswar: With the Pipli gang rape case still hogging headlines in Odisha, a 22-year-old girl from Balasore district today alleged of being gang-raped and moved the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) seeking arrest of accused persons.

"Though I have lodged an FIR at Khaira Police Station in Balasore on November 3, 2011, police have not taken any action against the culprits," the girl told reporters here after submitting a petition with the chairman of SHRC. Narrating her ordeal, the girl said she was raped by two persons at a jungle near her village on September 25, 2011. Two others were involved in kidnapping her from the village, she said.

To a question, the girl said she delayed in lodging FIR due to threat from the accused. "They had threatened to kill me and my father if I dared to make any complaint." The girl, however, went to the police station on November 3, 2011 after her family members found her disrobed in a mobile clip allegedly circulated by the accused persons.

"While one person was forcing himself upon me, another captured pictures in his mobile," she shuddered recounting the ordeal. Balasore district SP Rajesh Kumar said two special squads were set up to net the culprits immediately after the girl lodged FIR and the search is on. "The girl was also sent for medical examination immediately," the SP said.

The girl, however, alleged that she had been receiving regular threat calls from the accused persons. The girl said she decided to move the rights panel inspired from the Pipili rape case. "The police actually swung into action in Pipili case only after the SHRC issued direction. Therefore, I decided to approach the SHRC," she said.
