Bhubaneswar: Union Home Secretary designate Anil Goswami on Thursday met Odisha Governor S C Jamir and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here and discussed the problems faced by the state government in Maoist and other fronts, official sources said.
 
"I was here to understand the issues of the state government and work on how to resolve them. Our intention is to help the state government to move forward," Goswami told reporters after meeting the Chief Minister.
 
Sources said, Goswami, who presently posted as OSD in the MHA, discussed the issues like Left-wing extremism, coastal security, safety of important installations of national interest and others with chief secretary B K Patnaik, director general of police (DGP) Prakash Mishra and other senior home department officials.
 
With certain parts of Odisha under influence of Maoist ultras, Goswami wanted to know the state's preparedness to meet the challenges. Odisha shares common border with other Maoist-hit states like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.
 
Besides, Goswami also discussed on the general law and order situation, police modernisation, jail administration and fire services in the state.
