Koraput: Anganwadi workers of Boipariguda block in Koraput district have accused the block Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Surama Mohapatra of seeking bribe (percentage or PC known in local parlance). The All Odisha Anganwadi Workers' Association on Monday also filed a complaint with the district collector and demanded action against the CDPO.

As per the complaint, the CDPO asked for 10% commission regarding cooked food prepared at each Anganwadi centre in the block. They also alleged that the CDPO has sought percentage commission from the self help groups engaged in distributing ration. The CDPO tortured workers, who failed to pay commission, they further alleged.

The Anganwadi workers' association filed a complaint with Koraput collector and threatened to stage protest if no action is taken against the CDPO.

"The CDPO asks for 10 per cent commission on the supplementary nutrition programme (SNP) and other supplies and also tortures the workers," alleged Rina Sethy, an Anganwadi worker.

"The CDPO has been asking for percentages on the work carried out by the Anganwadi workers. She used to ask for commission on cooked food and take-home ration. We have filed a complaint with the collector and demanded action against the CDPO," said Swarnalata Panda, vice president, All Odisha Anganwadi Workers' Association.

On the other hand, the CDPO refuted all the allegations against her and said, "I do my job sincerely and all the allegations against me are baseless. This is a conspiracy hatched by some Anganwadi workers."
She also alleged that some workers are not doing their jobs sincerely.
