An Odia speaking person will be CM, BJP responds to Naveen’s salvo
Bhubaneswar: Soon after BJD supremo and Odisha CM Naveen mocked the BJP over chief ministerial candidate, saffron party’s Odisha in-charge Arun Singh hit back saying that, “An Odia speaking person will be party’s CM candidate in Odisha.”
“BJP president Amit Shah had categorically said that an Odia speaking person would be the CM candidate in Odisha,” said Singh.
Singh further stated that Odisha CM is posing such questions as he fears to lose the Odisha battle this time.
“Out of fear, Naveen Patnaik for the first time is contesting from two Assembly constituencies. BJP’s parliamentary board takes a decision on who will be the chief ministerial candidate. BJP has won with thumping majority in several States without projecting its CM candidate,” Singh asserted.
Earlier, BJD supremo and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik launched a scathing attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and dared the saffron party to name its chief ministerial candidate for Odisha elections 2019.
While addressing a poll meeting in Daspalla, Naveen asked, “Who is BJP’s CM candidate and from which constituency he is contesting the polls?”
“Is the BJP scared to announce its CM candidate?” asked Naveen while rejecting the double engine remark for development made by several BJP leaders during their poll campaigning in Odisha.
Earlier, PM Modi while addressing a public meeting in Koraput last month had made the double engine remark. He had said, “I believe that people of Odisha should vote for BJP’s double engine government, both in the State and Centre so as to bring all round development at much faster pace.”
Taking a dig, Naveen at today’s public meeting in Daspalla said, “Delhi engine is also visible during elections. The people of Odisha want to know who the second engine in the State is.”
