Ambulance carrying pregnant woman meets with accident, 3 injured

Nabarangpur:  At least three persons including an expectant mother and ASHA worker were critically injured after the 108 ambulance they were travelling in met with an accident near Gabaguda village in Umerkote of the district late on Saturday night.

According to sources, the expectant mother hailing from Chacha village of Jharigaon block of the district complained of labour pain on Saturday night following which the family members called up the 108 ambulance.

The mishap occurred after ambulance driver lost control of the steering wheel and veered into a roadside divider near Gabaguada village. The injured were initially admitted to the Umerkote hospital and later the pregnant woman and ASHA worker were shifted to the district headquarters hospital after their condition deteriorated.
