The much-awaited Ekamra Project in Bhubaneswar is expected to be completed before Shivaratri, MLA Babu Singh said on Thursday.

Singh noted that work had stalled in certain areas due to land acquisition issues; however, following directions from the Law Ministe Prithviraj Harichandanr, it will be completed before Shivaratri.

“Wherever there were problems with land acquisition, work had to be temporarily halted,” he said.

He further explained that the contractor originally assigned to the project had caused delays.
 
“The previous agency delayed the work. Therefore, a new tender will be issued within 15 days, and the project will be handed over to a fresh contractor to ensure timely  completion,” Singh added.

The MLA emphasised that the Odisha government is committed to completing the Ekamra Project ahead of Shivaratri, ensuring that the public benefits from the upgraded infrastructure as planned.
